Applying at TFA: how the procedure works
Quality and reliability come first with us. That is why everyone goes through the same careful procedure. So you know what you are starting and the family knows who is coming into their home.
The steps
You apply
You respond to a vacancy or send an open application with your CV. We get in touch and review your CV.
Invitation for an online conversation
If we see a good basis, we email you an invitation for a first online introduction. In it we discuss your experience, your wishes, your availability and the kind of family that suits you.
Conversation at our office in Utrecht
If it clicks and there is interest on both sides, we schedule a conversation at our office in Utrecht. There we really get to know you and tell you exactly what working through TFA looks like.
Screening
We request your references, check your diplomas and ask for your certificate of conduct and first aid certificate. This is part of the work: families entrust you with their children and their home.
TFA Academy
You get access to our online modules. That way you start well prepared, with the same way of working and the same standard as your colleagues. The Academy involves a one off fee; you pay that after you have signed a contract with a family.
The match
We introduce you to a family and are involved in the introduction. If it feels right on both sides, we guide the contract arrangements and continue to coach you.
How long does it take?
From the first conversation to your start it usually takes two to three weeks. That depends on how quickly your references respond and on when a suitable family comes along. We keep you informed throughout.
What we look at
We look at professional knowledge, but who you are matters just as much. Do you take initiative? Can you handle confidential information? Do you sense what is needed before it is asked? Those are the qualities our matches succeed on.
We also ask about your plans for the coming years. Because we match for the long term, we expect you to want to commit to a family for several years. If you are looking for something temporary, we are probably not the right place.
