The TFA Academy: training for Nannies and Family Assistants
Everyone who starts working through TFA begins in the TFA Academy: our online training with modules, assignments and quizzes that you work through at your own pace. In it we set out what we consider good work in a family, so that you come in with confidence and the family knows what it is getting.

What you learn
- The way TFA works, from the introduction meeting and the trial day to the start conversation and the evaluations afterwards.
- Your field of work as a Nanny or as a Family Assistant, and how to fill that in day to day.
- Child development from baby to teenager, and communicating with children and with parents.
- Family planning and organisation: bringing structure, thinking ahead and managing a family's calendar.
- Discretion: confidentiality, care and privacy in a family's home.
- Setting boundaries without it becoming a conflict.
- Social and personal competences, and emotional safety for children.
- Hospitality and etiquette: manners, welcoming guests, the laid table and protocol.
- Healthy food and a healthy lifestyle, and your role model in that.
- Safety online and offline, including what that involves in affluent families.
Masterclasses
The Academy includes access to the masterclasses by child psychologist Tischa Neve. She takes you through child development and what that asks of you in everyday practice.
We also hold live sessions regularly. There you meet fellow Nannies and Family Assistants, practise with real situations and exchange experiences. For many of our professionals that is when the profession really comes alive.

What you take with you into practice
Besides the lessons, the Academy holds the documents you work with: our code of conduct, the role profiles and the forms that come with a start in a family. So you have everything at hand as soon as you begin.
Coaching throughout your career
You have a dedicated coach at TFA. They call you after you start, visit when that helps and are there when you run into something. Whether it is a difficult conversation with parents, a child you are worried about or your own development: you are not on your own.
Wondering whether this suits you?
