What does a Nanny or Family Assistant earn?
An honest answer, without hedging. At The Family Assistant the indication is between € 3,500 and € 4,500 gross per month based on 40 hours. If you work fewer hours, the amount is calculated pro rata.
That is higher than is usual in childcare. In return you work independently, you are flexible and you are the point of contact for one family.

What does your salary depend on?
- Your education: a child related qualification or a recognised training counts.
- Your experience: years in the profession, and experience in comparable families.
- The hours and the flexibility the family asks for, such as evenings or travelling along.
- The weight of the role: the children only, or the household and the planning as well.
- Extras such as a car from the family or a travel allowance.
Each vacancy states the range, together with the hours, the working days and what else is included.
Being employed makes the difference
Many nannies in the Netherlands work under the domestic services scheme. You are paid per hour, but you are not socially insured, you build up no rights and you are not paid when ill.
With us you are employed by the family or the company, with a full employment contract. You are socially insured, you continue to be paid when ill, you are entitled to holidays and you receive holiday pay. Over a year that makes a large difference, even when the hourly amount looks comparable on paper.

What else is included?
- 8% holiday pay on your gross salary.
- Continued pay when ill and accrued holidays.
- A travel allowance or a car from the family, depending on the arrangements.
- Access to the TFA Academy and our masterclasses.
- A dedicated coach at TFA for as long as you work with us.
The TFA Academy involves a one off fee, payable only after you have signed a contract with a family. Read more about the Academy.

What do I earn net?
That depends on your personal situation, tax credits and allowances. At € 4,000 gross per month you keep roughly € 3,000 net. We are happy to go through it with you during the introduction.
Do I earn more if I stay longer with a family?
That is up to the family as employer, but with a long term cooperation an annual increase is customary. We discuss it when the contract is arranged and at the evaluations.
Do I pay anything to TFA?
No. The family pays for the placement and the support. Only the TFA Academy involves a one off fee, after you have signed a contract.
