The role of a Nanny during the summer holidays from A to Z

The summer holidays are drawing ever closer, so good preparation starts well
in advance. A nanny who helps organise the holiday thinks along actively about the planning:
which weeks are suitable, which destination suits the family and what do
parents and children wish for? Think too of aligning with school holidays, any
summer activities for the children and the availability of accommodation. By creating
an overview in good time, the nanny brings calm to the run up to the holiday.

A nanny can take a great deal of work off the family’s hands by helping with the practical
organisation. From booking flights, accommodation and transfers to drawing up
a tailored packing list, she makes sure nothing is forgotten. Gathering
passports, insurance documents, vaccination records and any medication is also part of
her role. For trips abroad, the nanny can also arrange
the necessary documents or consent forms for travelling minors.

Once at the holiday destination, the nanny remains a valuable presence. She draws up
daily plans that follow the children’s rhythm, arranges outings or
children’s activities and makes sure there are moments of rest. Think of booking tickets
for a zoo, arranging a babysitter on location or organising
craft afternoons on rainy days. This way the holiday runs smoothly, with a good
mix of relaxation and entertainment for the whole family.

During the trip, the nanny can provide structure, care and a familiar face
for the children, so that parents can relax. She helps with packing and
unpacking, takes care of healthy meals and thinks along in unexpected situations, such as a
poorly child or a delayed flight. Once home, she helps with unpacking, washing
clothes and getting ready for the first day back at school or work. So the holiday is not only
carefree, but the return to the normal routine goes smoothly too.

A high end nanny is much more than childcare: she is a coordinator, a support and
a source of calm, also (and especially) during the holidays.
