Vacancy experienced Nanny in Rotterdam | 30 to 32 hours | Monday to Thursday
Are you a warm, independent Nanny who guides children with care and sets clear boundaries? For a committed family in Rotterdam, The Family Assistant is looking for an experienced professional from 1 January 2027, someone who keeps an overview, thinks ahead and would like to stay with the family for several years.
You will work 30 to 32 hours a week, spread over Monday to Thursday. You will look after two children aged 6 and 8 and combine their care with practical support in the house.
About the family
After eight years with au pairs, the family has deliberately chosen a professional Nanny: a trusted second pair of hands in raising the children, who acts independently and sees what is needed.
Respect, independence and clear agreements are the basis of how the children are raised. There is room to explore and to grow, within clear boundaries. Treating the house and the pets with care is part of that too.
The parents value open and honest communication. You do not have to check in on every decision: your experience, your initiative and your understanding of children are exactly what they are looking for. Grandma is regularly involved and there is domestic help.
Your role as a Nanny
You give the children a familiar base and make sure the day runs smoothly. You have an eye for what each of them needs, encourage their independence and bring calm when that is called for. After school you create a good balance between activities, playing outside and winding down.
You also contribute to a well organised household. You enjoy cooking healthy food and pick up practical tasks independently, so that daily life runs easily.
What you will be doing:
- Taking the children to and from hockey and other activities;
- Guiding daily routines and encouraging independence;
- Organising enjoyable, creative and active things to do;
- Getting outside with the children regularly;
- Preparing healthy meals for the whole family;
- Doing the laundry and the shopping;
- Keeping calm, routine and clear boundaries in place;
- Talking things through with the parents, about the children's development and about the day to day.
The emphasis is on looking after the children, with light household work alongside it.
Who are we looking for?
You are warm, involved and self assured. You build a bond with the children, take an interest in what matters to them and stay consistent in what has been agreed. You know when to step in and when to let a child try something alone.
You stand your ground, take responsibility and communicate clearly. When something turns out differently than expected, you raise it openly with the parents.
In addition:
- You have extensive, relevant experience as a Nanny or in childcare;
- You speak fluent Dutch;
- You enjoy cooking and pay attention to healthy food;
- You hold a driving licence and have your own car;
- You can ride a cargo bike safely;
- You do not smoke;
- You preferably live within 30 to 40 minutes of Rotterdam;
- You are available Monday to Thursday for a total of 30 to 32 hours;
- You are deliberately looking for a permanent role for several years.
