Vacancy Family Assistant | Breukelen and Loenen aan de Vecht | 32 to 40 hours | start as soon as possible

For a warm and enterprising family with two school age children, we are looking for an experienced, committed and proactive Family Assistant. Someone who not only organises daily family life and keeps the household running smoothly, but who also plays an important role in guiding and supporting the children's development.

Within this family, the eldest daughter needs some extra attention: she has a mild form of autism. She benefits from clarity, structure and someone who can guide her in a positive and patient way. We are therefore looking for someone with a good feel for what children need, who knows how to motivate them and helps them take on their daily activities and schoolwork independently and with confidence.

Experience with children with autism is a big plus, as is experience with homework support. Just as important is someone who is self assured, connects naturally with the children and brings calm and structure with a positive, clear approach.

You will work both with the mother in Loenen aan de Vecht and with the father in Breukelen, supporting the children in both homes. This is a long term position in which you partly work alongside the mother, while also having plenty of room to take responsibility independently.

About the role

As Family Assistant you are an indispensable link within the family. You combine guiding the children with independently organising and running the household.

An important part of your role is supporting the children after school. You help them create a pleasant and clear daily structure, encourage them to start their homework and support them in planning and finishing their schoolwork. You know how to motivate children in a positive way, also when they are dreading something or need some extra encouragement.

For the eldest daughter, we are looking for someone who can support her with patience, understanding and clear communication. Someone who pays attention to her individual needs, offers predictability where needed and helps her become more independent step by step.

We are also explicitly looking for someone who can truly run the household. You do not wait for tasks to be handed to you; you see what needs to be done and pick it up yourself. You think ahead, keep an overview and make sure everything within the family is well organised.

Responsibilities

Guiding and supporting the children:

  • Guiding and motivating the children with their homework and school tasks;
  • Creating structure, overview and clear daily routines;
  • Giving extra attention and guidance to the eldest daughter, taking her mild form of autism into account;
  • Helping the children develop independence and self confidence in a positive and encouraging way;
  • Supporting the planning of schoolwork, activities and other commitments;
  • Taking the children to and from school, sports and social activities;
  • Providing a warm, safe and familiar environment in which both children feel at ease.

Household and family organisation:

  • Independently organising and running the daily household;
  • Keeping track of everything that needs to happen within the family and responding proactively;
  • Doing the shopping and preparing healthy meals;
  • Taking care of the laundry and the wardrobe;
  • Keeping the house tidy, organised and well arranged;
  • Coordinating school, sports and social activities;
  • Managing the family schedule and helping with appointments, holidays and special occasions;
  • Thinking ahead, spotting what needs to be done and taking initiative.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a warm, energetic and independent Family Assistant who likes to get things done. Someone who feels responsible for the ins and outs of family life and enjoys making an important contribution, both practically and in supporting the children's upbringing.

You see what needs to be done, take initiative easily and do not need constant direction. At the same time, you have a natural authority with children and know how to guide them in a positive, patient but clear way.

You also recognise yourself in the following:

  • You have experience as a Family Assistant, Nanny or in a similar role within a family;
  • You have an affinity with children who need extra guidance or structure; experience with autism is a big plus;
  • You preferably have experience with homework support and know how to motivate children to start their schoolwork independently;
  • You are patient, empathetic and good at responding to children's individual needs;
  • You are clear and consistent, while building a warm and trusting bond with children;
  • You are well organised, practical and find it natural to run the household independently;
  • You are proactive, see what needs to happen and always think one step ahead;
  • You are positive, energetic, stable and solution oriented;
  • You communicate easily and work well together with parents;
  • You speak Dutch fluently;
  • You hold a driving licence; your own car is a plus;
  • You are available for 32 to 40 hours a week, spread over 4 to 5 working days;
  • A sporty and active attitude is a plus.

What does the family offer?

  • A varied and independent role within a committed family;
  • A long term position in which you truly become part of daily family life;
  • A meaningful role in which you contribute positively to the children's development and independence;
  • Plenty of trust, responsibility and room for your own initiative;
  • A salary indication of € 3.500 to € 4.500 gross per month based on 40 hours;
  • Coaching and support from The Family Assistant.

Practical information

  • Location: Loenen aan de Vecht and Breukelen;
  • Hours: 32 to 40 hours a week;
  • Working days: 4 to 5 days a week;
  • Start date: as soon as possible;
  • Weekend work: occasionally;
